5. Background & Need Assessment:

In many communities, women face systemic barriers such as poverty, illiteracy, gender inequality, and limited access to income-generating opportunities. AHEAD Foundation initiated the Women Empowerment Program to bridge these gaps by offering skills training, education, health awareness, financial inclusion, and leadership opportunities.

6. Objectives:

• Empower women through vocational training and entrepreneurship

• Promote economic independence among underprivileged women

• Raise awareness of women’s health, hygiene, and legal rights

• Strengthen community participation and leadership

• Form and support Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for mutual financial support

7. Target Beneficiaries:

• Low-income and marginalized women

• Widows and single mothers

• School dropouts and adolescent girls

• Women in rural, tribal, and slum communities

a) Vocational & Livelihood Training

• Tailoring, embroidery, handicrafts

• Beauty and wellness training

• Computer literacy and digital skills

• Home-based entrepreneurship development

b) Self-Help Groups & Microfinance Linkages

• SHG formation and training in group savings

• Financial literacy workshops

• Microloan and bank linkage support

c) Health & Legal Awareness Workshops

• Sessions on menstrual health, hygiene, nutrition

• Education on legal rights (domestic violence, dowry, child marriage)

• Access to legal aid and medical referrals

d) Leadership Development & Community Engagement

• Public speaking, confidence-building, advocacy training

• Engagement with panchayats, schools, and civic bodies

• Peer mentorship and women’s collectives

• Community mobilization by trained field staff

• Partnerships with local trainers, NGOs, and CSR groups

• Regular monitoring and impact assessment

• Use of digital tools for skill and health awareness sessions

• 2,500+ women trained in various livelihood skills

• 180+ Self-Help Groups formed and operational

• 800+ women supported in starting small businesses

• 1,200+ women educated in menstrual hygiene and maternal care

• 350+ legal awareness sessions conducted

• 20% increase in household income among trained women (average)

11. Success Stories:

Meena Devi, a widow from rural Bihar, completed our tailoring course and now earns ₹6,000/month by stitching uniforms for a local school. She has also trained 4 other women in her village.

Nazima, once a domestic worker, now runs a successful beauty parlour and trains girls in her locality.
