5. Background & Rationale:
India faces a shortage of trained paramedical professionals, caregivers, and community health workers, especially in rural areas. At the same time, there is a large unemployed youth population, especially women, seeking livelihood opportunities. This program addresses both challenges by offering market-aligned health sector skills that lead to employment or self-employment in clinics, hospitals, diagnostic centers, and home care settings.
6. Objectives:
Train youth and women in healthcare-related vocational skills
Improve access to skilled health personnel in underserved communities
Promote employment, self-employment, and dignified livelihood
Support public health systems through trained grassroots support
7. Target Beneficiaries:
Unemployed youth (18–35 years)
Women from low-income communities
School/college dropouts
Aspiring healthcare workers in rural/semi-urban areas
8. Key Courses Offered:
a) Nursing Assistant / GDA (General Duty Assistant):
Basic patient care, hygiene, mobility support
Working in hospitals, elderly care centers, and homes
b) Home Health Aide (HHA):
Personal care, nutrition, mobility, medication adherence
Focused on elderly and chronically ill patients
c) Phlebotomy / Laboratory Technician Assistant:
Blood sample collection, basic lab processes
Employment in diagnostic labs and clinics
d) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT):
First aid, trauma care, ambulance handling
Work with hospitals, emergency services, NGOs
e) Community Health Worker (CHW):
Health awareness, immunization support, referrals
Work under PHCs and public health outreach programs

Theory sessions in classrooms with models/simulators
Practical training in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic labs
Internships and on-the-job exposure
Soft skills: communication, ethics, confidence building
Certifications through recognized bodies (NSDC, Skill India)
10. Implementation Strategy:
Community mobilization and candidate selection
Partnerships with hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic labs
Expert trainers and healthcare professionals as faculty
Daily assessments, monthly tests, final skill evaluation
Job placement or entrepreneurship support after course completion
